PEOPLE & CULTURE: Meet McGowan #3 - Stevie Mitchell (Project Manager)
In the next instalment of our ‘Meet McGowan’ series, we’d like to introduce you to one of our newest recruits, Stevie Mitchell, who joined as Project Manager in July 2021. Stevie has gained considerable experience in large-scale cabling projects and has been recruited to bolster McGowan’s ambitious growth plans for the energy and utility sectors.
Having joined Scottish & Southern Energy (SSE) in 2004, Stevie progressed up through the ranks and fulfilled various roles with his final post being a Construction Manager for SSE Contracting. After 17 years’ service he decided it was time for a new challenge and a change of scene. Stevie said:
“I did my research on McGowan before joining and the feedback from everyone I spoke to was phenomenal. It’s clear that they’ve built an excellent reputation across a range of services and they have an outstanding track-record in positive reinstatement works. McGowan are well positioned as demand is increasing for professional, high-quality and environmentally sensitive services.”
Stevie has been involved in cabling projects since 2004 and joined SSE’s plough team in 2009. During this time, he is estimated to have installed over 200,000 kilometres of 33kV cable in renewable energy, distribution, transmission and utilities. Although Stevie has only been with McGowan for a short space of time, he’s already had a big impact and is currently working on our latest high-voltage, underground cable installation projects for the distribution network. Stevie has been delighted with the move and added:
“I’ve only been with the company for a few months and it really has been a breath of fresh air. The team welcomed me in from the start and the work ethic is absolutely brilliant. Everyone is pulling in the same direction and the enthusiasm to deliver runs right through the company.”
Stevie comes from a village in Perth & Kinross and still lives in the area, which is an ideal central location for visiting the different projects we have running across Scotland and further afield.
Everyone at McGowan is delighted to have Stevie on-board and we’d like to wish him all the best.
