Glen Noe Hydro Scheme Construction Begins
May 2019 saw McGowan begin construction of the new Glen Noe Hydro Scheme following original consent from Argyll & Bute Council in September 2016. The 2MW run-of-river hydro scheme is located near Loch Etive in the West of Scotland and will comprise of three intakes, approximately 2.8km of buried pipeline and a powerhouse with tailrace.
Initial works undertaken by McGowan entails the construction of a 3km access track to gain access to the proposed intake locations. Once completed, it is expected that the renewable scheme will be able to power more than 1,400 average consuming homes each year. Completed construction of the project is expected by the end of 2020
