The Company was founded by owner and Managing Director Ross McGowan in 2009. Ross actively involved full-time in the business fulfils a business development role together with a mentoring role with staff to instil a strong work ethic and attention to quality and service.
Through a planned programme of sustainable investment McGowan has continually expanded and built a reputation for delivering high quality environmental and civils projects in sensitive and challenging locations.
Based centrally in the north of Scotland in Aviemore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, the Highland’s most prominent conservation area, McGowan brings to every project its empathy for its Highland environment, family business values and strong environmental ethics.
Now employing over 50 people McGowan operate an ongoing programme of staff development and mentoring. McGowan implement a number of accredited apprentice training programmes through CITB and have a number of trained and registered environmental assessors with SQA. McGowan has developed its own integrated management system for quality processes and continuous improvement and holds a number of industry accreditations.
Derek Mackay (Contracts Manager) and Ross Smith (Operations Manager) have played key roles in the success and growth of McGowan and in recognition of their effort and contribution over the past 4 years, both became Directors of the business in 2019.
