Installation of the new boardwalk  went through difficult  terrain i.e. Blanket peat, mollinia tussocks, and wet areas of flush with soft rush and fallax.

Project Notes:

  • The boardwalk was pre-assembled off-site at McGowan depot, before being transported to site by lorries
  • The individual boardwalk sections were thereafter brought onto site by helicopter to prevent unnecessary damage to adjacent flora and fauna
  • A total of 650 lm  of 1.2 metre wide boardwalk  with 1.5 metre wide passing places was installed on site over undulating terrain
