Following a tender process, Green Highland Renewables employed McGowan via an NEC3 contract to provide civil works for a 500kW hydro scheme, in a sensitive landscape within Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. All turf and vegetation was stored for use in reinstatement, preventing habitat loss. To protect the valuable freshwater mussel habitats, it was vital to control the flow of silt during the works. Close dealings with SEPA and detailed management resulted in the successful delivery of the contract. McGowan laid approximately one kilometre of 630-diameter PE pipe, and roughly 200 cubic metres of structural concrete.
